Vegetable Based InksAll of the inks that we use are Vegetable Oil content-based inks. They are a mix of soybean oil and linseed oil. The typical content percentage of each of these under normal circumstances range from 21-23% soybean oil and 5-12% linseed oil, depending on the type of ink that we are running. Metallic inks would of course be an exception when requested. Recycling Effects
V3 typically recycles 70,000 - 110,000 pounds of paper per month. This paper is a combination of trimmed scraps and wasted press sheets from our manufacturing processes as well as waste that is recovered from our front office recycling program. FSC CertificationV3 has been recognized for its commitment to environmental responsibility and well-managed forests with a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain of custody certification. FSC is an international standards-establishing network aimed at promoting responsible forest management. Their certification program aims to slow global damage to forests and promote environmental responsibility in manufacturing. It also allows clients of V3 who print on FSC certified papers to incorporate the FSC logo into their designs. Waterless PrintingWaterless Printing is a state-of-the-art technology that reduces the amount of waste paper conserves water, and reduces volatile organic compounds emission produced in typical printing processes. Unlike conventional offset printing, which uses a chemical fountain solution to resist ink, the waterless printing plate is treated with a layer of silicone to keep ink off of the non-image area. The elimination of fountain solution reduces VOC emissions into the air. Because of the nature of the waterless printing process, set up time is also shorter than you would typically experience on traditional presses. This in turn reduces the amount of paper and energy needed to set up a typical printing project. Awards and RecognitionV3 has received numerous awards for our recycling efforts and environmental practices by different agencies. We were recently awarded the Sustainable 41 Award from Assemblywoman Fran Pavley for our work in incorporating environmentally friendly practices into daily operations. |
